Learning to Read Uyghur - Part 8

Here is part 8 of this learning to read series. In part 7 we learned the rest of the Uyghur vowels.  Let's continue and learn a few more letters. The remaining letters can be different from what we find in English, so we'll rely on video clips to practice listening.

ng - This letter has the ng sound as in sing. Here are the different ways the letter looks:
ڭ ڭـ ـڭـ ـڭ
*Notice that it looks similar to the letter k (ك كـ ـكـ ـك) and g (گ گـ ـگـ ـگ). Watch this video to hear how this letter is pronounced: YouTube Clip

r - This letter has the Spanish rr sound as in perro or the t sound in Saturday. Here are the different ways the letter looks:

w - This letter has the w sound as in wet. And sometimes has the v sound as in vet. Here are the different ways the letter looks:
ۋ ـۋ

q - This letter has the back in the throat Arabic k sound as in Qatar. Here are the different ways the letter looks:

Let's try reading some Uyghur words with these letters:
ئوڭاي - ongay = easy
شىنجاڭ - shinjang = Xinjiang
تەڭ - teng = equal
راست - rast = true, right
ئورۇن - orun = place, position
تۇرپان - turpan = Turpan (city)
ۋاقىت - waqit = time
كاۋا - kawa = pumpkin
ۋېلىسىپىت - wélisipit = bicycle
قىش - qish = winter
قاچان - qachan = when
تاماق - tamaq = food; meal
